Introducing your team
When produced correctly, employee bios or a ‘meet the team’ page can act as a powerful marketing tool. But it’s important to tailor the messaging to your company’s brand. Generally there is a specific tone to get right, be it serious or fun. And then there’s consistency. Once you have a few staff it can get messy if different people are writing bios.
A good bio can be used to convey the personality of your business, but also expertise: profiling the skills and experience of team members to differentiate yourself from competition. As well as giving your prospective and current customers a sense of who you are as a company and as individuals, the bio can provide a personal connection and rapport that a simple ‘about us’ page would struggle to achieve.
Website bios can also be good for your employer brand, helping your employees to feel welcomed and a valuable part of the team.
Getting your website bios right
We’ll start by talking to you to find out what you want to achieve with your employee bios. What level of detail would you like the bios to include? Will these employee profiles reflect just their professional background, or their personal lives too?
Once a style, length and format have been agreed, we will gather specific information by interviewing staff face to face, by telephone or by sending out a questionnaire. If a lot of technical information is included in one or more of your bios then we’ll advise it is fact-checked by the employee.
Upon completion the profiles will be sent to the person coordinating the project within your business in Word document format – ready for a review and then to be uploaded to your company site.
We work with businesses preparing their website bios as a one-off project and on an ongoing basis if the team regularly changes or is growing rapidly. Using a copywriter can be particularly helpful in ensuring bios are written consistently. So whatever your requirements, get in touch to find out how we can help.
