Phoebe, founder of the Beauty Belle Barn, was encouraged to enter the BABTAC & CIBTAC Annual Awards, which some describe as the “Oscars of the beauty industry”.
I got through to the semi-final of the awards!!
The challenge
The Beauty Belle Barn, established by the talented and entrepreneurial Phoebe when still a teenager, has now been running for several years. It has gone from strength to strength despite hurdles like the COVID pandemic hitting in the early years of the business.
With things going so well, Phoebe was encouraged to enter the “Oscars of the beauty industry” – the BABTAC & CIBTAC Annual Awards. The application process was wordy, though. And as a busy business owner whose strengths lie in her service delivery, Phoebe wanted assistance with the writing to present herself in the best light.
The solution
We prepared entries for the Beauty Therapist and Facialist awards, which she had chosen to focus on this year.
Phoebe has a great origin story for her career and the Beauty Belle Barn. As an initial brief, she provided us with a summary of this along with examples of the kind of information the awards organisers were requesting in their questions.
We then advised on what we thought would improve the submission, including factual information to complement the narrative around her milestones in the business.
We had about two weeks to complete the submissions, so plenty of time to write a draft and send over to Phoebe to review, before she submitted the applications.
The results
About a month later, we received this message from Phoebe:
“I got through to the semi-final of the awards!!
Thank you so, so much for all that you have done, I’m so happy! They said that it was the highest standard yet! Fingers crossed for the next stage.”
It is lovely to see the impact that progress in a business award can make on a small business. It really means the world.
And the news would get better still, when a couple of months later Phoebe received the news that in the Facialist category she made it through to the national finals. What a proud moment and a brilliant night at the awards ceremony would follow.
While, eventually, she did not take the top prize, she is able to call herself a finalist which is a great achievement in itself, especially as the awards were at a national level.
